🎨 Special Events and Activities

Beyond free entry, numerous museums are hosting special events:

  • Herakleidon Museum (16 Herakleidon St., Thissio) – Honored as the featured institution for 2025, it offers thematic guided tours from May 12–17 and a main celebratory event on May 18 at 7 PM, featuring speeches and performances. 

  • Acropolis Museum – Open from 9 AM to 8 PM with free admission. Special guided presentations of the new exhibition "Allspice | Michael Rakowitz & Ancient Cultures" will be held at 10 AM (English) and 1 PM (Greek). More details on the official website of the Acropolis Museum.

  • Museum of Cycladic Art – Offers live demonstrations of basketry and loom weaving, storytelling sessions, and screenings on Cycladic heritage throughout the day. This year theme is: "The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities". For a comprehensive program schedule, please refer to the official website of the Museum of Cycladic Art.

  • National Archaeological Museum – Hosts thematic tours on May 16, including topics like "Cosmetics and Perfumes of the Mycenaean Era" and "Life and Death Through the Ages."

📅 Other Free Admission Days in Greece

If you can't make it on May 18, consider these other days when entrance to archaeological sites and museums is free:

  • April 18 – International Monuments Day

  • Last weekend of September – European Heritage Days

  • October 28 – National Holiday
